COMPANY HISTORY

From Hunters and Shadows to the Divine Kindred

Think back in time when you first started playing an MMORPG.  You probably were not even sure what a guild was or, if you did, you might have wondered what kind should you belong to.  These were the very thoughts for many of us when we first met.  Since that time in 2003, we have evolved into a great group of friends who share many of the same core values.

Sony had come out with the PS2 in November of 2000.  Then, as the price came down on the console, an MMOG explosion occurred just as Everquest Online Adventures (EQOA) was released in 2003.  The unique nature of playing online with thousands and even millions of players was proving quite intoxicating. EQOA opened up this new market to console gamers, which is where we met in February to March of 2003.

It was with great excitement that we joined our first guild.  For many of us, this was the 'Hunters of the Fallen' a family friendly guild who occasionally liked to roleplay.  Our members were mature and thoughtful players, and the guild began to grow immediately.  In the time spent on the Hodstock server our guild became highly respected by the top guilds of the day.  After a year of play we had evolved into an experienced guild of great friends.  We had guild parties, raids, static groups, and server events.  We had evolved and we were growing.

Final Fantasy XI was released in North America on the PC in late October of 2003 and on the PS2 in March 2004. This began the first of many exodus for the Hunters of the Fallen and the other guilds that we considered brothers and sisters from Hodstock server. Through Hodstock.com we all knew to start on Siren server in FFXI. However, the linkshell system had a detrimental influence upon the closeness of the guild as a whole. As more games were released, each person began to define their own style of gaming. Many of the Hunters who stayed with FFXI now joined in with the Kindred linkshell.

We would split apart and come together, back and forth. We stayed connected though and as we would miss each others company, there became this desire to always stay in touch. With the launch of Everquest II in November 2004, there was a push to combine many of our old EQOA guilds into a single entity, the 'Shadow Syndicate', including many members of the original Hunters of the Fallen, Beta Corp, Bandits of the Marsh, and several other guilds from Hodstock server. We now had not only lots of experienced players but a great depth as well. This effort proved successful, but ultimately fell short of later attempts to bring all our friends under a single banner.

In 2005 and 2006, we then moved from game to game including Guild Wars, Vanguard, World of Warcraft, Pirates of the Burning Sea, Age of Conan, and Lord of the Rings Online.  Many of us jumped back and forth between the games, but the magic was that we always stayed in touch with each other, thanks largely to the website crafting skills of our good friend Alto.  By 2007 we were widely scattered but still in contact and in small static groups.  Kindred was still going, although it had shrunk considerably in FFXI, and some of our friends still played EQII.

In the winter of 2007 we received word that Warhammer was coming, and it finally came out September of 2008. At that time a great push developed to bring the old gang back together again, as the word that Warhammer might be the new king of the MMO's. At this time we started the 'Crusade of Shadows' guild, and it included members of all the previous guilds, Kindred from FFXI, and the Shadows of EQII, plus our allies ‘The Unnamed’ from EQOA.

We belonged to the great 'Unspoken Alliance’, which also included the established multi-gaming guilds of Divine, Lazy Nation, Renegade Heroes, and later Blitzkrieg.  We had members join us from Oculus of Nex tribe from LOTRO, and also from other players who migrated from the same servers.  The Crusade had now reached over 125 players before the game went into decline in 2009.  Since the Crusade of Shadows began to dissolve, many went to Aion:  The Tower of Eternity and joined Divine.

Now, as Aion finds itself in decline, we again are coming together for Final Fantasy XIV.  To accomplish this we merged the three existing groups and became the Divine Kindred guild of 2010.

As you ask the question, "What is it that Divine Kindred has that I want, and why would I wish to become a member...?"  Hopefully we can answer that for you right now.  Our interest lies in new players, their mature personalities, their gaming knowledge, and more importantly having fun playing the game while forming lasting friendships that will carry on into the future.

Seven years or more with lots of good times, and tons of great stories to tell, great memories for great friends ... old and new.  Let's make even more great tales to tell!
